Cut-Down Parachutist Liners

Unfortunately not so rare an item - this seems to be a quite common post-jump action to get rid of those annoying A-frames that keep flapping against your ears or stick in your head if you tuck them up.

The Westinghouse Liner pictured above came out of the Northern Shoulder of the Ardennes. The straps have been cut out just above the liner cradle.

Another Westinghouse liner, cut-down in the same manner.

The outside of the Westinghouse Liner pictured above right has Captain's bars and an extremely unusual stencilled MP marking, as well as two orange dots. It is not known which unit this was from.

Pictured below is an Inland liner with the same cut-off straps. This liner came with a 551st shell. The liner cradle is made by Johnson & Johnson (note J&J marking on nape strap fitting), and unusually the sweatband is dated 1943 (the 3-character maker's mark is indistinct),
