Fixed Bale NCO's Helmet

This helmet is typical of one being used by an 82nd Airborne NCO for the September 1944 "Market-Garden" operation. It is a fixed bale paratrooper helmet shell (with original chinstraps and NCO bar on back), together with a Westinghouse liner (with OD7 A frames and cast buckles) and a leather chincup.

The Westinghouse-made liner has blackened fittings and steel rivets.

NCO Bar on rear. Helmet net is a British-made 1/4" net, typical of the 82nd Airborne in Normandy and Holland. View of the interior (note blackened brass stud on shell chinstrap).
